Staurolite is a mineral that is commonly found in metamorphic rocks such as schist and gneiss. It is a silicate mineral with a generalized chemical composition of (Fe,Mg)2Al9Si4O23(OH). It is usually brown or black in color with a resinous to vitreous luster. It ranges from transparent to opaque. They are commonly called Fairy Crosses due to the inclination o the crystals to intersenct each other giving the appearance of a cross, known as penetration twins. It has strong grounding properties and connects the root the root, heart, third eye and crown chakras. It is useful for relieving anxiety and fears, as well as helping to give up bad habits. It is said to be useful for connecting with fairies and nature spirits.
